Textile Linker collaborate with Blue Hmong artisans to organize the Batik & indigo dyeing workshop. Mai Chau is one of the most beautiful valley in the mountainous province of Hoa Binh, located about 150 km west of Hanoi. A short 30km ride from the center of Mai Chau district nestled away from the mountains main road is the tiny village of Pa Co. This commune is situated in high hills at an altitude of 1500 m above sea level and deep valleys often blanked by dense fog. Entering Pa Co village occupied primarily by the Blue Hmong. In the family of 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam, the Blue Hmong are renowned for the mesmerizing indigo batik harmoniously mixed with patchwork and cross-stitching. Throughout their history the hemp plant and hemp weaving has been an indispensable part of Hmong culture “Only wearing hemp cloth that avoid losing ancestors”.

The workshop is organized during 2 days by working closely with the Blue Hmong women artisan to learn batik painting with beeswax, indigo dyeing and understand meaning of batik pattern. The participants can keep your batik drawing and indigo dyeing fabrics. They also visit Sunday local market of Pa Co where the local people sell their food, handmade paper and textile.
