Dhroong Craft Village Tour & Workshop, Quang Nam
Nestled in the lush mountains of Quảng Nam Province, Dhroong Village (in Tà Lu Commune, Đông Giang District) is a Co Tu ethnic community rich in living textile traditions. The village is home to talented artisans who continue to weave thread and beads on traditional backstrap looms, creating fabrics adorned with symbolic motifs drawn from nature, spiritual beliefs, and everyday life.
Although natural dyeing and ikat weaving have declined over the years, Dhroong’s elders still remember the use of local dye plants—especially indigo leaves and yam root—and traditional patterns passed down through generations. Through community-based craft workshops and tours, visitors can reconnect with this heritage by learning directly from Co Tu artisans.
Dhroong is conveniently located about 80 km from Da Nang and 90 km from Hoi An, making it an accessible yet tranquil retreat from these popular destinations. Visiting Dhroong is not only an opportunity to immerse yourself in Co Tu culture but also a way to support sustainable livelihoods and the preservation of their intangible heritage.
